Spotted in Manchester: Me, My Chair, and a Bus! (and Rubber Ducky!)

Spotted in Manchester: Me, My Chair, and a Bus! (and Rubber Ducky!)

No 2 days are the same at Neo Walk. When an opportunity came along to have my face on the back end of a bus, how could I resist!

I was asked by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to take part in a two-day photoshoot promoting their tram and bus services throughout Manchester. As we all know public transport can be the stuff of nightmares for our commnity (more on that in my other blog), however, TfGM pride themselves on being accessible to everyone. So I packed my little bag and off I went.

They had covered all the bases for genres. There was an older person, younger person, family of four, pair of teenagers and me bringing up the rear in my wheelchair. It was actually so much more fun than I thought it was going to be, very relaxed, they were very accommodating of my needs in my chair. It did involve some fast jumping on and off the level entry trams as they arrived though.

I love the fact one of the shots they used has my dog in it. Proving that transport for greater Manchester is not only wheelchair accessible but also dog friendly. They also let me sneak my 'Rubber Ducky' stick into the picture which matched their colours perfectly. The Bee Line buses all have built in ramps that the driver operates for you. There is plenty of space to move around and dedicated spaces for wheelchairs.

I love the opportunity to do something a little bit different, especially when I know it is to try and improve accessiblity and do something to improve life for our community 🙌

So if you find yourself in the greater Manchester area, and you think you see me on a bus, tram or poster, you may well be right. But try to resist drawing a moustache on me!
